Mammillaria gracilis fragilis ‘Thimble cactus’, Live plant 2"

Description

DESCRIPTION

You will receive approximately 4" pot-sized plant similar in the photos.
This item will be shipped bare root or in original plastic pots, whichever is better for the plant. We handpick to order and make sure all are healthy plants before shipping.

The Thimble Cactus is a charming, low-growing cactus known for its delicate appearance and ability to form dense clusters. Native to Mexico, this Mammillaria species features small, cylindrical stems densely covered in white, lace-like spines, giving it a soft, fuzzy look. Despite its fragile name, it's a resilient and easy-to-grow variety.

This cactus produces small, creamy yellow or pale white flowers in the spring and summer, adding a beautiful contrast to its intricate spine pattern. Over time, it spreads to form attractive mounds, making it perfect for containers, rock gardens, or as part of a cactus and succulent arrangement.

Care Tips:

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight or filtered full sun.
  • Water: Water sparingly—allow soil to dry out completely between waterings.
  • Soil: Use well-draining cactus or succulent soil.
  • Hardiness: Not frost-tolerant; ideal for USDA zones 9–11. Protect from temperatures below 30°F.

This is an ideal cactus for beginners and collectors alike due to its compact size, beautiful form, and forgiving nature.
