Myrtillocactus geometrizans, commonly known as the Blue Candle Cactus, is a fast-growing, columnar cactus prized for its striking bluish-green stems and sculptural appearance. Native to central and northern Mexico, this cactus can grow multiple upright branches resembling candles on a candelabra, making it an excellent focal point in xeriscapes or large containers.

In late spring to summer, mature plants may produce small, greenish-white flowers, followed by edible purple berries—hence the name “Myrtillo,” meaning “blueberry” in Latin.

Care Requirements:

• Light: Full sun to partial shade. Requires bright light for healthy growth and best color.
• Water: Drought-tolerant. Water thoroughly when soil is completely dry. Reduce watering in winter.
• Soil: Well-draining cactus or succulent soil mix is essential.
• Temperature: Hardy in USDA zones 9–11. Protect from frost and freezing temperatures.
• Growth Habit: Upright, branching cactus that can reach up to 10–15 feet tall in the ground.
