DESCRIPTION

The cutting is approximately 12 inches long unless otherwise stated, though it may occasionally be longer. Most cuttings are freshly cut to order from the mother plant just before shipping.

Mayumi Garden acquired Asunta 5 Patricia from both Richard Le and another reputable grower in Southern California. Among the Asunta 5 siblings—Starburst, Patricia, Paco, Ventura, and Fire—Patricia stands out as the most gorgeous and photogenic.

Patricia produces fruit with the most vibrant skin color, typically weighing around 1.5 lbs. The white flesh has a firm texture and a sweetness comparable to Palora, but with a distinctive twist. Its complex flavor offers notes of star apple and pear, making it a unique addition to any dragon fruit collection.
Please note: Taste is subjective and may vary slightly depending on weather, soil nutrients, and harvest time.

If you're seeking a variety as sweet as Palora but with more flavor complexity, look no further—Mayumi Garden is proud to offer this standout cultivar.

Policies:

By purchasing grafted or rooted plants from our shop, buyers agree to the following terms:

  • Once the plant leaves our care, we cannot control shipping conditions. The buyer is responsible for filing claims with USPS for lost or damaged packages. Orders include insurance up to $100; additional insurance is available upon request.
  • All grafts are well-established and securely attached to the rootstock. However, if breakage occurs due to rough handling during transit, it is the buyer’s responsibility to file a USPS claim.
  • All sales are final. Plants are non-returnable and non-refundable.

Planting Instructions:

Upon receiving your package, gradually acclimate both cuttings and rooted plants to their new environment.

For Cuttings:

  • Allow 4–7 days for the cut end to dry and callus before planting to prevent rot.
  • Disinfect the end with organic GrowSafe, especially in cooler weather.
  • Keep the cutting in shade until it has fully rooted (check by gently tugging).
  • New growth may appear before rooting is complete—double-check before assuming it's rooted.
  • Once rooted, gradually introduce to partial sun, then to full sun. Avoid direct sun initially.

For Rooted Plants:

  • Gradually acclimate to partial sun, then full sun over 1–2 weeks.
  • In hot climates (above 95°F), use a 30–40% shade cloth to prevent sunburn.
  • Avoid heat reflected from cement or pavement, which can damage the plant.

Growing Conditions:

  • Dragon fruit thrives in tropical and subtropical climates (e.g., Hawaii, Florida, Southern California).
  • In less ideal climates, protect young plants from extreme weather using a greenhouse in winter and shade cloth in summer.
  • Mature plants (3+ years) can tolerate more extreme conditions but may still need protection below 30°F.

Soil & Watering:

  • Use well-draining soil (e.g., cactus mix). As you gain experience, you can customize with perlite, chicken manure, potting soil, and compost.
  • Dragon fruit thrives in full sun, but extreme heat requires some protection.
  • Water when the top 2 inches of soil are dry. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.
  • In cooler weather, water sparingly—no watering is needed in winter unless grown in a greenhouse.

Fertilization:

  • Apply chicken manure monthly during the growing season.
  • Fish fertilizer is a great alternative but may produce an odor.
  • Use a bloom booster on mature plants to encourage flower and fruit production.
