DESCRIPTION
This listing is for one grafted Jasmine dragon fruit plant. The fruit photo shown is from the mother plant and is not included with the purchase.

Mayumi Garden acquired this variety from Southern California in 2022.

We also acquired the Amelie variety in 2022 from Southern California, along with Riona, Celeste, Queen Daenerys, Jasmine, Stella, Kinsley, and Connie Gee. This self-sterile hybrid is a cross between Hylocereus undatus and Hylocereus stenopterus, further hybridized with Hylocereus guatemalensis. The Amelie variety was created by crossing Connie Mayer and G1, and it has many sister varieties.

Policies

By purchasing grafted or rooted plants from our shop, buyers agree to the following terms:

  • Once the plant leaves our care, we are not responsible for conditions or handling during shipment. If a package is lost or damaged, the buyer is responsible for filing a claim with USPS. Packages are insured up to $100; additional insurance is available upon request.

  • These grafts are well-established and securely attached to their rootstock. However, if damage occurs due to rough transit handling, the buyer must file a claim with USPS. Mayumi Garden does not offer refunds or exchanges under these circumstances.

  • All sales are final. Plants are non-returnable and non-refundable.

Planting Instructions

Upon receiving your package, it is crucial to gradually acclimate both cuttings and rooted plants to their new environment.

For Cuttings:

  • Allow 4–7 days for the cut end to dry and callus before planting to prevent rot.

  • Disinfect the cut end with an organic fungicide such as GrowSafe, especially in cooler temperatures.

  • Keep the cutting in the shade until it is fully rooted. You can test this by gently tugging on the cutting.

  • Note: New growth may appear before the roots have developed. Confirm rooting before assuming it's established.

  • Once rooted, slowly introduce the plant to partial sun, then gradually transition to full sun. Avoid direct sunlight initially.

For Rooted Plants:

  • Gradually acclimate to partial sun, then to full sun over 1–2 weeks.

  • In temperatures above 95°F, use a 30–40% shade cloth to prevent sunburn.

  • Avoid placing plants near cemented areas that reflect heat and can damage the plant.

Growing Conditions

  • Dragon fruit thrives in tropical and subtropical climates such as Hawaii, Florida, and Southern California.

  • In less favorable climates, younger plants should be protected from extreme weather. Use a greenhouse in winter and a shade cloth during hot summer months.

  • Mature plants (3+ years) are more tolerant but may still require protection below 30°F.

Soil & Watering

  • Use well-draining soil; cactus mix is a great starting point. As you gain experience, you can customize your soil with perlite, chicken manure, potting soil, and compost.

  • Dragon fruit prefers full sun but needs protection in extremely hot environments.

  • Water when the top 2 inches of soil are dry. Avoid overwatering. In winter, water sparingly or not at all unless the plant is in a greenhouse.

Fertilization

  • Apply chicken manure monthly during the growing season.

  • Fish fertilizer is a suitable alternative, though it may have a strong odor.

  • Use a bloom booster on mature plants to stimulate flower and bud development.
